Nexus Bridge makes it possible to use React, Vue.js, Angular as a native part of the Siebel Open UI. No need for REST and IFrame, just standard Open UI. Developed as a part of the Nexus'19 project, Nexus Bridge is available to everyone for free under the MIT license.
Oracle introduced the Siebel Open UI framework back in 2012. At this time, jQuery ruled the web development world, and, naturally, Oracle leveraged it to develop the next generation of Siebel CRM UI. As always with Siebel, Open UI is extendable and customizable, letting Siebel customers implement all their requirements.
Web development technology has evolved since 2012; such frameworks as React, Vue.js, and Angular and other tools significantly improved the productivity of web developers. The Introduction of component-based UI architecture and UI component libraries made the building of engaging user interfaces much easier.
Thanks to Open UI flexibility and the Nexus Bridge, you can build the custom physical rendering layer of your Siebel Open UI with a modern web technology stack. Old and new Siebel views are interoperable, allowing you to transform your Siebel UX gradually, one view after another.
Three layers of Open UI:
Physical Renderers, Presentation Models and Proxy
Nexus Bridge is a free opensource JavaScript library that wraps around sixty Siebel Open UI methods and properties. It exposes the Open UI API in a way that makes it easier to build custom Physical Renderers (PRs) using modern JavaScript UI frameworks, like React, Vue.js, and Angular.
Nexus Bridge's main feature is reading, changing and navigating through Siebel recordsets using Applet Presentation Model (PM). Also, PM contains the list of the applet's controls/list columns along with their metadata, making the custom PR fully Siebel configuration aware.
Besides data access, the Nexus Bridge provides other API necessary to develop fully functional custom PR applications. Examples include navigation between Siebel views, working with the pick, association, and shuttle applets, localization and internationalization, etc.
The Siebel team at Oracle has reviewed the code of Nexus Bridge JS library, paying close attention to how it utilizes Open UI methods and properties. Based on Oracle's feedback, we have refactored about 25% of the codebase and addressed all major concerns.
OK, developing custom PRs in modern web frameworks can be difficult, especially in the beginning. With more than five projects (and Nexus Face) under our belt, we can help you to get started. Run the Nexus Bridge POC*, and one of our experts will join your team for one week, training and coaching your developers. You will also get another big BONUS: a custom PR application template, implementing, among other things, such essential features as:
The engagement fee is 7,000 EUR*
* POC should be using React or Vue.js for custom PR development
** excluding VAT and business trip expenses
